Still lots more to do on this one, but I'm building it up in layers. The flowerheads are just blobbed in at the moment and I will work on them more plus the rest of course, but I couldn't wait to show it. I am very excited about this one.
Progress shots have been posted on My Blog if you are interested to see how I got to this stage and I will post more after I have something else to show... all takes time. |

Are you working from imagination or a still life setup?
The reason I ask is because the area behind the bear doesn't read true to me yet. I realise that it's not finished. I was just wondering. BTW - it's looking good. This post has been edited by LBM on Nov 4 2009, 09:10 PM |

Dorothy, thank you - yes I think he's been at the cookie jar!
Andy, thanks your comments are always appreciated. This is a still life set up - I almost always work from life or (if I must) from photos... I need to see what I'm painting. Still a long way to go yet, but do please let me know what you think or if you see something that isn't working. I am always thankful for any advice or critique. |

Hi Sharon, nothing much I cn add to the comment so far. It's all nicely handled and works very well as a piece of domestic genre. Possibly the theme of homely domesticity could be heightened with a few more foreground objects, a rattle, some teething rings, knitted bootees, a hat.
Endless possibilities make the choice difficult. Have I left you with a problem? |

Thank you so much, Peter and what a lovely thing to say.
You wouldn't believe the number of sunflowers I have had to buy to keep painting, but it's wonderful to have the all around the studio as I paint. |

Hi Sharon
Painting is coming along nicely At 30" x 24" it's quite large too. I like the idea of the teddy. Looking at him, he looks a lot like one I have had with me for a few years now. Sat like yours in the painting, he only measures just over 5". But the best thing about him is.... When you press his belly he farts and says " Ooooh, pardon meeee "., in Frankie Howerds voice. He gets quite a laugh when people pick him up. Del: |

Hi Cherry and thank you for visiting the blog. Unfortunately, I have not had time to paint for a while now as I am busy clearing out my junk - I am hoping to move house in the Spring.
I hope to have time this weekend to tackle this one some more - it is on the easel in my studio and I am itching to work on it! Will post as soon as I have an update. |

Well worth the wait Sharon.
Love the reflection/shadow of the bear on the vase. |

Nice job, though the line of the table edge doesn't match each side of th vase. Good sense of depth and three dimensionality in it
