Finished this one today. Been doing charcoal and pencil a lot lately so I thought I would get the paints wet for a change. out of the frame for a few days so I can make any alterations.

A small lighthouse, St Ives . Misty morning, no reflections, The distant sea was shades of grey but changed to the vivid colours nearer the shoreline. |

This was painted from my hotel bedroom, just for once I had a decent single room with a balcony. I noted the time..4-00pm room 208. Took me an hour to paint; was trying to capture aerial perspective.

I sketched this obliging seagull as I was standing nearby. It was still there when I left half an hour later. Too hot for me! (during the three day mini heatwave in May)

At the risk of boring viewers here is another spate..this time an artificial one in the grounds of Dunvegan Castle. Skye. It was a very showery day. The turquoise patch is the fungus which is grey until it is moist/wet.

I was interested in Rob's bird attack photo...we were always attacked by what are called bonxies in Scotland ...they did it to protect ground nests.
These are puffins seen on Fair Isle...lovely friendly birds. |

A reference 'photo was used for the landscape...much of it I changed.. hopefully to make a better composition. There were more horses in it and this black one was facing the other way.
