Title: Anne And Mike's Garden
Description: Art group day out
Julia - July 6, 2010 08:34 PM (GMT)
Instead of my usual wondering around, I settled in one spot and concentrated on a small part of the garden.
Watercolour pencil and ink.

Hello Julia,
looks as if your 'stay put' has made you more observant thssupp
I find the ridge of tiles and the pot makes the eye ignore the flowers but maybe that was your intention?
Pleasant summer scene.
Sarah :)

Nice delicate piece Julia - very feminine. It is a style that would adapt very well to book illustration.
One little nit pick. I don't think the tiled capping to the wall do much for the picture. I'd be inclined to either omit it or make it stepped. Either way forget the foliage above it. A nice simple sky with a hint of light cloud is all you need.

Thanks everyone for your comments. Uncertain, I didn't have all the colours required at the time (wc pencils), so am glad the pot and wall tiles were a distraction. A happy accident there! Next art trip is to Wistlandpound Reservoir near Calvert Trust, north devon for a couple of hours. Then onto Valley of Rocks, nr. Lynton, weather permitting.
