Title: Shrewsbury Buildings
KenS - May 24, 2010 03:30 PM (GMT)
Hi,
I have not posted for over 12 months on WCP due to other time consuming commitments but hopefully now the future will allow a little more time for painting activities. Attending the local Art Club meetings weekly meetings has ensured my brushes have had the occasional wetting but it has not been as frequent or as for long as I would have wished.
I thought Members might be interested to see 2 paintings from a series I was invited to paint to feature in the Shrewsbury Tourism Association's 2009 street map.
The timbered building is that of Rowley's House (now a museum) and the other is the facia of The Parade Shopping Centre converted from the old RSI Hospital building.

Hello KenS,
I'm sure the Tourism Association must have been pleased with this.

Ken, you have done a tremendously good job of this project. The perspective and the way you have achieved the tones in the first one is excellent. I also admire find the way you have portrayed the vehicles in the second one. Not easy to do and you have done it well (claphands)
John ;)

Thank you Sarah, Dorothy and John for your kind comments.
I am obviously out of posting practice I should have mentioned that the original painting sizes are approx 5" x 4" painted on Daler 130gsm cartridge paper using W&N watercolours. They were much reduced in size before printing on the street map.
Ken.
