Title: Mudflats
songsparrow - May 13, 2009 07:49 AM (GMT)
This is only my second attempt at using acrylics! Watercolour being my usual medium.
20" x 16" on canvas.

Well done and very effective (claphands)
For something to say maybe the grasses too neat or uniformly painted

Very good for a second go with acrylics, it's funny stuff :) That is an impressive sky, though I have to agree with neil the grasses are a bit uniform and yoy could perhaps vary the tone more on the mudflats lighter in the dstance and darker in the foreground. Great thing with acrylics you can have a second bite of the cherry.
Captures the atmosphere of these sort of places that I know so well.

:) Thanks for the comments! It's funny how you can look at something and not see the problem till someone points it out! I'm gonna have another go at the grass. I am also going to put in some figures I think! Just to give it some life! :) Thanks everybody!

A lovely sky! I would also go with what Neil says. Well Done!

You seem to have taken to acrylics rather well (claphands)
With only minor points raised by Ken and Neil, I think you can feel really pleased with acrylic number 2.
I have to agree with the others the sky is lovely.

I know what you mean! Very daunting slapping that first coat of paint on! But I must say! I'm pretty pleased with this result. It's an interesting challenge to step away from the comfort zone now and again! I might try some more in this media. :)
Thanks all!
